Any ideas who will deliver a single sheet of perspex, I will need approximately 5' x 4'.
It doesn't need to be UV or anything fancy.
And at that size is 2mm okay, or should it be thicker?

Far thicker, 6mm would be good, but as far as I'm aware none of our framing suppliers sell it over 3mm unless it's the TruVue Optium stuff and you don't want to know how much a sq m that is.

Why 6mm for that size? Other than it flexing a bit what's the issue? I take it if there's too much flexing it could pop right out, although there will be nothing pushing against it from the back, possibly only people from the front and then it will bump the object.

This is 3mm acrylic 1 metre square - it's 'orrible and the wobbly reflections look even worse in real life.
You want something that stays flat and at your size it's MHO that 4mm would be wobbly too - 5mm is available, maybe that would be OK.

Would wide rebates help? Im planning a large frame with 3mm acrylic and am looking at using a L profile as the basic frame, adding other mouldings in a stacked combination to make it more attractive. The L profile will used upside down and combined with a very wide obeche slip and a strong subframe similar to Prosperos 'Big Jobby' will give degree of stability to the acrylic. I'll have about 30mm of acrylic under the rebate, I'm anticipating that this combined with the wide slip should reduce the deformation of the acrylic.

if not I'll have to think again.

The Big Jobby had the acrylic touching the map, so it did tend to stop it flapping. If there was a space, then 6mm would have been better.

Yep, it was the subframe in Big jobby I was refering to. I'm having to space the acrylic away from the textile in my job hence the wide slip and wide rebate lip in the upper frame to support the acrylic.. I'm still thinking it through and may yet come up with another way of completing the job.
