We have a show opening next week at the gallery, and one of the exhibitors is showing a multimedia piece. On an iPad. We seem to have come to the conclusion that we could frame (for that read, attach to the wall securely) using an aluminium profile, with security fittings (space is at a premium for this show).

Seems we need a profile 9.4mm deep (or deeper), that will overlay the front of the fondleslab by around 10mm, to hide the radius of the corners, and that we can get delivered on chop service, and that'll take normal fixing hardware.

In an ideal world, we'd like to be able to have the power lead (new lightning connector) in place, with the cable fed through the wall... We don't yet have the object of shiny desire, so don't know for sure how much give there is in the connector (figure very little, and don't won't to stress the connections). Taking the thing down for recharge every night (plus disassembly / reassembly) is within the realms of possibility, though not quite ideal.

Is this one of our less sensible ideas, has anyone tried it, or should we say $0d it, and order a ready made wall fixing, that'll cost us more, and looks ugly as anything (we've seen a couple of options that can be got on a next day delivery, so should plan A. fail, we do have a fall back.)

There are all manner of fixings available online which will secure an ipad to a wall - they have these in every phone or electronic shop so that people can try them out. Assuming it is to be framed nicely, you could just stick a normal frame over the top of a secure cradle.
I doubt an ipad will last for a full day without a constant power source, as they struggle even when on standby for most of the day, so you will need a power input.

Thanks for the suggestions re iPad - decided to cheat and go to a local framer - Kate @ Coldharbour Framing - made us a nice deep square frame, rebate for the powercable (fed through the wall).
