Hi, l am new to this forum and to making frames. We have a craft shop and have had requests for frames. So I want to start making picture frames. I bought a framing kit, but needs a lot more equipment. Here in South Africa I can not find equipment and will probably need to get it somewhere else. I will be scanning your post to see what I need to start.
Any advice where to start will be great.

Hi Tasha and welcome, I came into framing via the antique restoration route and did not know about the equipment 'proper framers' use for a number of years. It is a good way to learn, best of luck

Welcome Tasha
There are plenty of companies in SA selling new and used picture framing equipment + all the other items you will need, and even offer training.
If you can say where you are located I will gladly point you to a source near to you.
I would have also expected them to advertise in your Yellow pages
Good luck

Tasha,
THis is maddening I have just written a long para with 5 potential suppliers - pressed Submit and POOOOF ..... gone into the ether
Soory but running out of time so now only 1 supplier, but they are the biggest and the best..
http://www.suprememouldings.co.za/ They are in Jo'burg
Suggest you go and visit their showroom. Peruse all the mouldings, mat boards, machinery etc etc.
Ask to see Mike Formato - and tell him Keith Hewitt sent you to Supreme
Let us know how you get on
And welcome to the wonderful world of framing
Now to press Submit - fingers crossed

Good morning,
Welcome to the FF.
Whilst wishing for a tiny bit of African sunshine, rather than the snows of Nottingham, England, Ashworth & Thompson can help you if you require equipment.
Please let me know if we can help.
Many thanks.
Phil Sheldon.
