Black frame finish under glass

I often frame using black mouldings and will find once I have the frame sealed I suddenly notice lots of tiny bits from the black finish have got under the glass. Before I seal the frame it was spotless. At first I thought this may be from the glass scratching against the black finish around the rebate, however I noticed a few bits of small flaky black paint around the edges where the rigid points had been fired in so assume it could be from this.
Is this a common problem and are there any ways around this apart from sealing between the glass and the mount?
I will try and attach a photo to show the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try sealing your sandwich (taping your glass and backing together ) before fitting , or try Roboframers little trick of painting a thinned down layer of pva glue around the rebate.
Personally I get someone else to do it, because it drives me mad.

That may be the glass shaving little bits off the inside of the rebate when fitting. Sealing the sandwich should do it or smoothing the edges of the glass with a diamond impregnated pad (Lion sell them) should also help.
How tight a fit are you making the glass? There should be a bit of play between the glass and the inside of the rebate.

what i do is
i brush the rebate with a stiff paintbrush, then blow with the anti static airgun, tends to get rid of most of the loose bits
dont often have issues now because of it

Easiest way to eliminate is to tape the glass & mount.... stops any insects too

From this topic ....

"You can't beat the flumb pervert; your only chance is to join him - by deliberately leaving at least two extremely skillfully placed flumbs inside each frame - there's even more chance of him leaving you alone if you advertise this fact and offer money or a discount for anyone that can find them within one hour - a bit like 'Where's Wally'
Walking backwards around your workshop three times, naked; chanting "Ég elska flumb öfuguggi" ("I Love the flumb pervert" in Icelandic) whilst throwing glitter about appeases him for about 7 hours. A ritual sacrifice of a Dyson appeases him for a whole month - but the daily walking backwards thing is much cheaper and no real bother."

Thanks for all your replies. The gap I am leaving is about1.5 to 2mm. A lot of the glass I am using is pre cut and already nice and smooth. I have checked a few of the frames out where I had problems as I suspected this was the issue. But there does not seem any evidence of any scratching or marks from the glass on the rebate.
I normally clean the rebate with a soft brush so maybe I will have to try a harder brush. From looking at the small flakes of paint that seem to come off around the tabs I assumed this may be where it is coming from as the points break the black finish up as they are inserted.
I like the idea of sealing the sandwich but have had rotten luck with this so far. I find it really fiddly to get the tape in the correct place and when I do get it to what I think is correct then you can end up seeing the tape on the other side. I might not be using the best tape this though so maybe I will have to try and master this a bit better.
The tape I have been using is p7-70.

Try Filmoplast P90 instead of PH7-70, much nicer for making sandwiches, yum

Thanks for you all for your help, I will pop some P90 on my next order and give sealing the sandwich another go.
I placed some white paper on the lip of the moulding and then fired the points in to see if this was the problem and it appears to be. If I cant get on with sealing the sandwich maybe I will have to just be more selective with the mouldings I choose as it's only the ones where the finish is also on the rebate area that is causing me the problems.

This is why I have always sealed the sandwich prior to assembly. It makes it easier to handle than if it were all flapping about. The problem is suction. You can handle glass/mat/back without it separating slightly around the edges. This causes a huge inrush of air which pulls in any stray bits in the vicinity. It also stops creepy-crawlies getting in.
