Framing a painting on board

It's a dog, painted with acrylics or similar on board and but not having the texture of an oil. It's 20 x 17" and the dog fills the board. Only something like a sizeable mount will move the frame far enough away to give the painting some prescence, and glass is requested. If I'm going down this route, how would I retain the 2 or 3mm board at the back of the mount please.

Use some 3mm foam board or some strips of mount board.

Thanks IFGL, I was on those lines but a little uncertain.
