Am tearing my hair out (which is only adding to the problem if I'm honest) trying to get a box frame flumb-free. It's a 5cm deep frame with black foam core spaces, Artglass AR, and black foamcore backing. I've been using microfibre cloths plus nilglass and it's smear free, but the dust, oh the dust...

Any suggestions?

When I assemble a frame that hasn’t got a sealed package, I do so with the glass facing up. Having the glass/frame/spacer package face down and then presenting the object/backing on top always seems to causes the flumb problem when you turn it over.

Try laying the backing/object on top of a raised platform (a few mountboard chevrons) and then place the frame/glass/spacer on top and leave for few minutes for things to settle. Carefully turn over and fire in a couple of points and put aside for another few minutes. If any flumbs appear you only have a couple of points to remove. The raised platform helps in picking up the whole package (platform has to be smaller than the frame).

If all else fails, just charge the customer extra for the flumbs!

Spray a fine mist of water over your bench area and swap the glass cleanimg cloth for some kitchen roll.

I have a vacuum cleaner with a small soft brush attachment I find useful. The attachment gets used for nothing else.

Hey, I've actually got one of those. My wife bought me one for a joke but it actually does work! I use it to clean out the grooves in the Ultimat and the wall cutter.

I've started cleaning and wiping the glass with the frame standing up and wiping from top to bottom
Then assembling while it's still standing up. I then have a good look and fire in a few points and check properly. If everything's okay I fire in the rest of the points and then go for a cup of tea.
