I need to box frame a fragile piece of african woven cloth by "hanging " it onto a board. I am concerned that if I sew it onto the board at the top only the stitches will pull holes in the cloth. Here in SA we use a tapestry glue which dries and stays sticky almost like table tack which is used in screenprinting t-shirts. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I recently did something similar with an old tablecloth and after much debate I pressure mounted the tablecloth behind UV acrylic. I built a large subframe and covered it with quilters wadding with a cover of natural calico. The pressure from the UV acrylic keeps the tablecloth in place without needing to use stitches. I had to construct a large frame with a 25mm lip on the moulding which enabled enough pressure to be applied clamp the 1.2metre square acrylic firmly enough.

I dont like the thought of using glue!
