Hey folks
I'm a bit new to picture framing, I've probably done about 50ish frames so far for customers.
I've made a Facebook page to try and drum up some work in my local area www.facebook.com/campbeltownframes
Would like to invite any forum members who are interested to like the page and tell me what you think.
On a side note... I was thinking about sitting the exam to become a guild commended framer, what are fourum members thoughts on this? Is it worth it? Has anyone who has become a commended framer seen any real benefit?
Many thanks
Shaun

Also, just my two pence.... all looks great. Except, with your float mounting - I would make your foamboard a little smaller so you cant see it from the side... it sort of ruins the floating effect if you can see what is making it float!?

I've given you a like jayvee, that's some nice work.
Thanks for the tip, I see what you mean. I'm learning something new every time I make a frame

Good that you have so many likes in a short time but are they potential customers? From a personal point of view I think it would be better to have your work shown in your cover photos rather than your pieces of machinery which while they mean something to you a customer would not associate with it.
Altdernatively you could have someone photograph you using them which would add to the feeling that your product is hand crafted.

Hi guys, if I used Facebook I'd give you a like but I hate the darned thing
Actually, on the topic of float mounting - what's the best way to attach the artwork to the foamboard if conservation is a concern. At the moment I just just AEG tape - maybe that's not designed for long term results? I really don't know what's best to use?

Look at the Info Store on the Lion website
Here is a link http://www.lionpic.co.uk/infostore/Techniques,3937.aspx
You need to scroll down a bit until you come to Float mounting of art on heavy paper
It is a downlaodable pdf file so print and keep.

Re: Newbie Facebook page
Shaun,
Welcome aboard!
Nice FB page...and nice looking framing presentations. I agree with Johnny2 about the Cover photo in that it should reflect more finished framed artwork rather than equipment.
Where's the link to your website? A good FB Page is nice and it should work in support and with a good website. http://www.facebook.com/TheFrameWorkshop
See you in the discussions....
