heat resistant tape

Post by ecossefineart »

we have a client who would like some framed prints...but he needs to hang them above radiators..

is there a tape or other product available that won't dry out and therefore the print won't fall from the mount?

You could use a tape that's supposed to dry out like hayaku or make your own hinges and use starch paste - there's also a couple of methods that will hold the print in place with no adhesive in contact.

My suggestion would be :- if the prints have no great value, or the primary customer concern is that they stay in place, dry mount them. If you need to be closer to conservation standards for whatever reason, stick them in place with Methyl cellulose paste , on to 100% cotton board, using weight or a cold dry mounting press. These suggestions would ensure no dropping of the prints in the mounts at all.
