Re: Fit-Over hangers
Nearly 10 years in our shop and last week was the first time a customer asked if we had one of these he could buy. I ended up giving him 2 D rings with screws.

Re: Non-Reflective Glass in a Box Frame
I wouldn’t consider 2mm glass of any type - same as Mark, our rule of thumb for 2mm glass is up to 1 sq metre. Don’t underestimate the extra weight of 3mm glass. Again, we stay away from any products that use diffused surfaces to control reflections/glare Wessex and Centrado have a variety of acryli...

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!
We completed this one yesterday. Canvas stretched over custom bars, wide wooden slip painted “dusty pink”, deep rebate oak frame, sub-frame inside and Lifetime acrylic glazing.
The outside dimensions of the frame are 1520mm x 1920mm - we checked it will go through the door.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!
A regular customer asked a while ago to frame the covers of 16 record sleeves (old fashioned 45s) side by side. My initial calculations put the glazing size at over 3 metres wide and no more than 30 cm high. Customer realised the space he had identified was too small. A rethink and another location ...

Re: What do you listen to when working?
When I first opened my shop nearly 9 years ago I was invited a couple of times to buy a licence from the Performing Right Society and obtain a Phonographic Performance Limited licence to allow me to listen to music. The combined cost at the time was over £350 a year. A little research led me to some...

Re: The Story of a Picture Frame
Brilliant post! Thinking back to when I first started framing I wish I had investigated and subsequently learnt how to gild. With my second retirement looming in about 2 years methinks I might be a bit old to learn and utilise some new tricks.
Again - a brilliant post, thank you.

We have just finished this today and can squeeze it into That Friday Feeling. A before and after of what should be every cap badge of the British Army in the 1980s.
I wouldn’t even consider this without a CMC!

Re: Getting re-going
We deal with 3 to 4 different suppliers regularly and as a result don’t always have sufficient to qualify for carriage free. Our turn around is long enough that we can wait at least 2-3 weeks before we have to place an order. If a customer needs a quick turn around then I explain that the cost of ca...

Re: Mountboard moulding
Looks like a slip fitted to a mount with a reverse cut bevel. You should be able to get them from most suppliers - if you can’t find a black one get a plain wood and paint it

Re: 2nds mountboards
Most suppliers probably offer mountboard seconds. Generally available as a result of mishandling and as such availability can sometimes be variable. If you can order a large number and get a discount it might be slightly more economical to buy cheaper standard core boards.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!
We finished this set of running/Ironman medals this week. Most time consuming part was getting them all lined up! The frame is about 1300mm x 400mm.
As a small teaser our next two major projects are for about 160 apertures in a single mount and the other is for an Olympian.

Re: HELP WITH Canvas FRAMING
For cheap, easily replaceable “canvasses” we use a 3mm thick self adhesive board cut to the exact size required. Carefully place the self adhesive board onto the back of the canvas, turn it over and check positioning, adjust if necessary, gently roll/push out any air bubbles and then stick it in a v...
