Money Laundering Regulations

Our accountants have just sent us a letter requiring original photograph I.D. eg: drivers' license or passport and proof of address such as council tax or utility bill. Accountants now are obliged to obtain identity and addresses of all clients and to ensure, on a regular basis, that these records a...

Re: 1/2" brown spoon

Narrow brown spoon/gold sight edge - shallow rebate. Tuppence a foot ! Always from the 70's in the arsenal of most framers for dead cheap framing. Hated it, didn't have it on the framing board. Cheapest then for me was 1/2" black or brown cushion to be really resorted to if I really had to. Hog...

Re: Financial woes?

Yes, Bill. America sneezes and we all catch a cold, or in this case chronic influenza ! I sold my last stock in Lyondell Chem. last year Bill. The portfolio is empty for present. Who knows when it's best to bottom fish for undervalued stock, when all you might do is catch a 'falling knife' . Even a ...

Re: Aluminium Frames

Dazza,Dazza,Dazza......don't do it.. slapped legs and sent to bed with no tea !! If you do want to cut your own, use a tungsten tipped blade with a high speed saw. The cutting concept is entirely different, no chopping, just ease the blade through the aluminium, slowly. I have cut my own aluminiums ...

Lyme regis....good place to stop on the way back; breaks the return journey about half way. Looe and especially Polperro are places we have a special fondness for, with many happy memories. ( Park in the top carpark if you've never been before, the village is not made for cars.) We have made this jo...

Re: What is the best way to fix down a Jigsaw?

Good tip Jolly. How many bring in loose jigsaws - too many ? Who wants to stay up all night, all week, fitting bits of blue sky together. My idea of a complete nightmare! Framing them is a good little earner, but I hate bloody jigsaws anyway; what a waste of time. I would as my daughter says: 'I'd s...

Re: Embarrassing moments.

Always wise to wear clean undies, at all times. Too many dollar bills in that wallet of yours Bill, jailors' keys and an American tape the size of a dinner plate! I've lost weight too.... it's all the tear-arseing about we do as framers. I,ve fallen for the Mr. one moment and Sir. whatever the next....

Re: We're all going on a .....

Off to Rhodes, Greece, 19 October for a week. First holiday for at least three years, so it's going to be total switch off; lift to the local airport (no Heathrow or Gatwick aggro), short boarding times, transfers other end, and if the sun doesn't make a decent show, we will not be happy bunnies. Cu...

Re: Wish list

I made a miniature T-square years ago for this purpose. 1cm by 1/2 cm, 10 cm head, 40cm long with graded marks.

Dead easy and simple. No need to buy anything; good old lateral thinking, which we all do every day.

Score with a good hand held glasscutter, then a gentle tap with the cutting head under the mirror closest to you to get the break started, especially when taking off a sliver.

One appreciative customer popped her pretty head round the door and gave me a very neat box of Green & Blacks miniature bars. Nice. Or just to call in to thank you for a job well done...makes the day.

Another gift...... anyone tasted a Hershey bar, or is it just me? Yuk!

Seen by the lady wife and daughter on the Ringwood bypass.

Five smartly suited men in a line peeing into the ditch at the side of the road (backs turned).

Re: Scam artist or idiot?

Just another tosspot, Kev. Good liars have to have good memories. Takes the gloss off a good day and makes a bad day a pain and we don't need to run round like ' blue arse flies ' . Never had one like this though. Most will turn up without invoice tickets,(left on kitchen table) or bring in another ...

Re: Good Grief!

Just seen some of the helicopter footage by way of WBZTV and the resulting damage to peoples homes. My sympathies go out to those who were in its path. You were very lucky it didn't touch down at your place Bill.

It would seem unusual to have tornados in the North-East states.

Take care

Re: fingerprints on black frame?

What is the finish Keady; high laquer glossy or matt satin ? It's the matt satin that is a problem with finger marks, enthusiastic cleaning will result in a shiny spot. Very fine wet and dry paper (dry use) with a light touch along the length of the moulding, then a wipe with a soft cotton duster wo...
