Re: moulding advice

Hi JGF's Sometimes when the moulding is soft or iffy base, it could be where the blades come together at the front, the waste wood has nowhere to go, so instead of cutting you are crunching the soft/iffy wood. Years ago you could buy some metal magnetic spacers to fit against the fence of the Morse ...

Re: wedding signature boards

Hi JGF's Where I used to work we would use a wide white/off white mount about with a minimum of 15cm boarder , drymount the photo and heatseal it to protect it from spillages. Also we would put it in the frame, with the glass behind the mount and photo, and use bendy tabs to secure it, then the Best...

Hi Áine,
Yeah it is great, one half of the roof is glazed, so we get a lot of natural light, best place in the building, it's where I work most of the time.

I was work with a framer who had cut the top of his right thumb on the Morso. I asked him how he done it, he went on to show me with his left thumb, after the demo he had a matching pair :!: :) it's true.

I'm not saying that PMA is heat activated, what I meant to say is because of the different types of plastic in the laminate, if (when it was laminated with heat) cools at different rates it will not lie flat, so no matter what you stick it with you will run into trouble, we have had them dome shape,...

Hi JGF's I would be very careful with trying to stick Large laminates down, in the past I have found that the laminates are two different plastics top and bottom, so on large maps or pictures when the laminate cools it might cool at different rates so that the laminated item might not lie flat, we j...

Ah plasticene, Reminds me of by boyhood :) In fact the village I grew up in was at one time the HQ of Plasticene, and was the only place in the world it was made. As kids we would go through the big waste bins at the factory for the scraps of plasticene. I do remember in those days plasticene did se...

Hi Twin Peaks I agree with prospero about style and fashion, another problem is the supplier being out of stock of mouldings, when I started framing 20 years ago, you used to have the odd moulding or mountboard out of stock, now with age of computer stock control there always seems to be more mouldi...
