Re: Chipped edges

Thanks for the replies guys, based on what you've said it looks like it's the moulding, I checked the blades like you suggested and everthing looks fine there and cutting other mouldings don't seem to be a problem (at the moment) - couldn't help but laugh at the kung-fu extraction method, yesterday ...

Re: Chipped edges

Cheers, well, that gives things a positive spin, maybe I'm not doing anything wrong then which is always a bonus I reckon. It would be a shame though as it's a nice moulding - if it isn't Morso friendly what would be the friendly method of getting a nice clean edge? Y'know somedays you think things ...

Chipped edges

Hi, hopefully someone can give me a little direction here .... I have a few gold mouldings especially a Simons 8000/0042 and most of the time the edges on the corners get chipped when cutting, actually, it's never as good as I'd like it - I've ruined a lot of stuff not to mention the waste of money ...

Re: A tool for hand finishers

I know I'm a bit late but can I just say I would love one of those things, I could press all those buttons, move that up & down handle thing, waggle that hose bit and pretend I knew what I was doing for hours!

Re: Flyers

Nothing about the design but on the pricing front I got 5000 for £99. Printing.com had a promotion at the time, designed it myself and just uploaded it to their site. Couldn't find anywhere else with that sort of pricing, descent glossy prints too (A5). Best of luck :)

Re: Keencut vs Fletcher Cutters

Anyway, I got the Fletcher and can I ask am I alone in thinking that the supplied installation instructions are the most overly complicated and longwinded piece of literature in existence. :head: I eventually found some rock haired woman on youtube demo'ing the setup, I gained more from that 5min cl...

Adding finish to painted obeche moulding

Apologies if this has been covered before (no pun intended) - I have a painted (matt) finish on a obeche moulding, what would anyone recommend to 'seal' it. At the moment it's very prone to finger makes etc, do I just use a matt varnish or is there a better method. Is there a wax type product that d...

Re: A Huge thanks to the Forumites

I completely agree sire, it is indeed a fine association to have :D

I have certainly learnt a thing or two but I've also realised that other folk share the same pains as myself with various 'projects'.

Thanks to everyone!

Re: Keencut Proteus and Evolution Bench Systems - Any Adivic

All good advice, you should build you own - you'd be surprised how easy it can be and you'll also get that sense of achievement too :)

Oh, and don't forget about the height - it's better if you get that right too as it makes a huge difference

I'd just be concerned with stuff getting damaged, I've found most couriers won't accept glass. I'd like to hear how you get on though :)

Good feedback from JamesC, as a whole I like the site though - you have done some very nice stuff and your gallery section shows that you do take care and consideration. Good things come to all who wait (someone once said)

Re: Adding frame(s) to stretched canvas wrap

Hey! Great, I get what you're saying and it sounds like a top plan. When you say fix a "flat piece of timber (painted black) into the rebate " do you mean to close off the whole back of the frame? Oh and could flat piece of timber be a narrow piece of MDF? Thanks for the detailed reply btw...
