If the 'watermarks' you're referring to are on 'Papered Float' Glass, I have found that the normal glass cleaner doesn't clear them.

The most effective way I've found is to spray the suface with very weak water/washing-up liquid and then use a small amount of Cif on a cloth, spray with the water mix again and wipe off. I then finish it off with the glass cleaner and Robert's your Father's Brother!!

There's probably some other way of doing it, but this works for me.... :giggle:

I've just started using Lion's glass cleaner concentrate (ref 979).

Brilliant stuff!

Shifts all those paper marks and lots else besides. By far the best glass cleaner I've tried so far.

This is my preferred glass cleaner also. I recently started to use de-ionised water to dilute it, having always just used tap water. I found it a help - fewer streaks so less elbow grease required. :D I'd previously baulked at the thought of the extra cost of the posh water for this task, but worked out it'll cost me about £4 a year - worth every penny

I use pH neutral Welsh spring water.

Probably has much the same effect as de-ionised water but in our case it comes out of the tap. :D

Do you know the mineral content of the tap water? Its primarily the calcium that causes the streaking, apparently.

London water is

35% Bleach
26% chalk
4% sewage
34% H2O
1% orang-utan's tears(they're crying about the ramin trees)

LOL! :D best to stick with the beer then!

I use 0000 steel wool (use dry) to get rid of the ‘water marks’ then clean as normal. Works a treat.
